Internal and external decoration of property at Upton Cheyney, Bristol

"The client was very impressed with the standard of workmanship produced..."

The client had moved from the London area to a property in east Bristol, they had asked various decorating companies to provide quotations for the internal and external decoration of their property. They contacted B C Services through a recommendation of a business associate of theirs.

After the site visit, we provided a quotation for the works required, which the client accepted.

PHASE 1

The first part of the job was to remove all fixtures, fittings and furniture prior to any work commencing. The next step was to sheet and protect the Parquet flooring and Oak staircase.

B C Services then carried out all the preparation work which consisted of raking out cracks and filling. Indentations and defects to walls and ceilings were also filled with the appropriate filler. Decorators caulk was applied to cracks between the ceiling and wall joints and also the top of the skirting boards.

Once the appropriate fillers had reached the correct drying times, 120 grade and 80 grade sandpaper was used to sand down fillers and provide woodwork with a key for decoration. On the completion of this stage, a thorough clean was provided before commencement of any paint products being applied.

PHASE 2

The second part of the job was to arrange and take delivery of a tower scaffold due to the height required for redecoration. Upon delivery of the scaffold B C Services erected the tower and also used other access equipment to gain the working height safely.

A two coat Dulux emulsion system was then applied to ceilings and walls. An oil based undercoat and satin finish system was applied to the sash windows and entrance door.

The Oak balustrade required two coats of clear Sadolin varnish to the handrail and spindles, we also applied a clear Sadolin floor varnish to the Oak stair treads as a hard wearing finish had been requested by the client.

The Oak doors, skirting boards and architrave the client had requested, that we use a Danish oil. The oil was applied using lint free clothes to bring out the beauty of the wood.

PHASE 3

The final phase of the job was to dismantle the scaffold and off hire, remove protective sheeting and give a final thorough clean. Once this was completed B C Services then reinstated all fixtures and fitting for the client.

The client was very impressed with the standard of workmanship produced. Also the polite and caring attitude of B C Services employees. So much so that we have now won the rest of the quotation for the internal and external decoration of their property.
